This is a message for people who believe in God, but particularly to Christians. God recycles! Just look at the water cycle, the oxygen cycle, the decomposition of organic matter by microorganisms, and so much more!

I believe that many Christians have taken the Genesis command to rule over the Earth a bit too far. I know so many Christians that view the world as completely disposable, but if we view it as such, that's what it will become: disposed. I do not advocate spending huge amounts of money to fix insignificant problems, which many environmentalist groups advocate, nor do I advocate putting the planet or animals above human well-being. However, we have to keep one thing in mind: if we don't care for the world given to us, eventually human well-being will become worse and worse, as we are already seeing with cancer and other ailments.

I believe that Christians, as appointed Stewards of the Earth by God, should be leading the cause in caring for the planet, but that's not what I see. In fact, I don't know many Christian families who even recycle. Of course, recycling won't suddenly solve all the world's problems, but it's a start. Recycling is not expensive or  harmful to people. How hard would it be to keep a bin to throw in your paper (like junk mail), plastic (like water or milk bottles), metal (like cans) and/or glass, and take it to a recycling dumpster every so often? Granted, maybe you live in an area that just doesn't do that sort of thing, but it can't hurt to at least check and find out if you can. Don't flush medications or poisons into the water system; chemicals like that are difficult to remove, they get into groundwater and it gets everywhere, animals and plants end up drinking it and getting poisoned, and it's bad for people, too. In addition, every family is able to turn off the lights when they're not using them, and hey, it would save you money on your electricity bill!

I think, (but I could be wrong) that Christians are reacting to the extreme environmentalism that is so prevalent in modern society. I don't agree with extreme environmentalism, either, but I do believe that everyone should still do their part no matter what people out there are saying. Maybe, if the radical environmentalists see good motion where there wasn't motion before, they won't feel pressured to be so extreme.

There is also a school of thought among some Christians I personally know (I don't know how widespread this idea is) but it's the idea that God doesn't care about the environment or animals. Pardon, but if that's true, why does Scripture tell us that did God told Noah to spend 100+ years building a boat big enough to hold two of each kind of land animal? Think about it: according to Scripture, God killed off all but 8 humans. That's a lot of death. Yet He made sure to protect all of his creatures, including his animals. And people want me to believe that He doesn't care about them? If God created all these animals and plants and called them good, do you think He enjoys watching them suffer or go extinct?

Again, I'm not asking you to change your lifestyle, live in a hut, live off locusts, or anything like that. I'm just encouraging some simple, easy care. :)

One would think it'd be obvious, but...
DUH!
No offense to you, I totally agree with this.
